This kayak tour is the best way to experience the Pictured Rocks & Miner’s Castle & Caves

The 2 hour Miner’s Castle & Caves Kayak Tour consists of a half hour fitting and safety instruction session followed by the 2 hour kayak paddling tour.

This short paddling trip at the Pictured Rocks and offers some beautiful views of the color at a slower pace. 2.5 hours in total this is the perfect tour for families or those short on time.

Due to the high volume of visitors at the park, we are required by park service to shuttle our kayakers in. We meet at the Tanglewood Inn and take a shuttle to the launch park. Shuttle is included with the tour. There are no additional fees.

Please arrive at the Tanglewood Inn 1 hour prior to your scheduled tour time. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS FOR MISSING THE BUS.

2 Hour Pictured Rocks Kayak Tour Description

Meeting us at the put in at Miners Beach, we will get you into your kayaks quickly and prepped for a fantastic 2 hours along the beautifully stained cliff side that is the Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore. This is the perfect amount of time for new paddlers, and for younger kids. This tour is an out and back from Miners Beach.

The amount of water covered will be about 4 miles for slower groups, and possibly up to 5 for ardent paddlers. Pictured Rocks Adventure stocks tandem and 3 person triple kayaks.

Please arrive 60 minutes early Tanglewood Inn e12534 M28 Shingleton, MI 49884 1 HOUR PRIOR TO YOUR TOUR.  .

After meeting your guide at the designated launch point you will be fitted with your tandem kayak, paddle, dry bags, pfd and optional wet suit.  Soon after  receive a concise safety and paddle presentation as well as a pre-paddle skills workshop, and be fitted into your kayaks for the trip.

What We Provide on the Tour

PICTURED ROCKS ADVENTURE will supply for all customers:

  • Trained Guide certified by Pictured Rocks Adventure
  • All tours will be equipped with
  • First aid and safety equipment
  • dry bag
  • Tandem sea kayak, or triple
  • spray skirt
  • Life jacket, paddle and, if required, a wet suit
  • Marine Radio

What You Should Bring on the Kayak Tour

  • Appropriate footwear
  • Snacks & water
  • Rain jacket. (this will protect you from wind and rain)
  • Water shoes or sandals. (feet must be covered, sadly glass does end up in the lake)
  • Sunglasses
  • Sun Hat
  • Sunscreen and bug repellant
  • Camera
