Full Day Kayaking Tour
Half hour fitting and safety 4 hours paddling
Skill Level: Beginner / Intermediate
Time: 4 Hr *(Other outfitters call this a 6 hour but we aren’t in large groups like they are)
Distance: 8 mi. round trip
Kayaks: Tandem and Triple
We put in at Miner’s Beach, via shuttle. Please arrive 60 minutes early. You will paddle past the Miners Castle and sea caves first, and venture out to the famous Lover’s Leap Sea Arch. This is a total experience of 4.5 hours with safety meeting, paddlers will be back at launch point in four hours. The artistry of the cliff side is imbued with its rich color by mineral rich water for the last 12,800 years cascading down the walls of the ancient sandstone cliffs. The last ice age released the landscape and as it melted it filled in Lake Superior the largest freshwater lake on earth. We consider this a full day because it covers roughly 8 miles and requires consistent paddling. Other tours that are full day, encompass boat rides or other options, and you will spend an entire day and still only paddle 4 hours. Our intention is to get you the most for your time with us, as there is so much to do in the area. 8 miles is a very respectable distance for someone who is a novice paddler and even beyond. In our experience most are in agreement that four hours is the perfect amount of time in a kayak for a tour such as this. After meeting your guide at the designated launch point you will be fitted with your tandem kayak, paddle, dry bags, pfd and optional wet suit, soon after you will be fitted into your kayaks for the trip. Once fitted you’ll receive a concise safety and paddle presentation as well as a pre paddle skills workshop.
